Why Everything We Make Is Printed in Wellington

We could print cheaper overseas.

That is the honest truth. Offshore printing is significantly less expensive, and for a small business watching every dollar, it would make the numbers look a lot better on paper.

But we have never seriously considered it. And here is why.

Quality you can actually see and check

When your printer is local, you can hold the product in your hands before it goes out the door.

You can check the colours. You can feel the paper weight. You can catch a misalignment or a colour shift before it becomes a customer problem. When something is printed on the other side of the world, you are trusting a process you cannot see, a proof on a screen, and a freight timeline that adds weeks to every order.

Our products are keepsakes. They are meant to last years, sometimes decades. The quality has to be right every single time, and printing locally means we can make sure it is.

Small runs, less waste

Overseas printing is cost effective at scale. Large runs, large minimums, large amounts of product sitting in storage waiting to be sold.

That model does not work for us, and honestly, it does not sit right with us either.

Printing locally means we can run small batches, respond quickly to what is selling, update designs without writing off thousands of units, and avoid the kind of overproduction that ends up in landfill. It is not the cheapest way to operate, but it is the most considered. It also allows us to customise orders - so your personalised books are exactly that.

Fast turnaround for our customers

When a parent orders a personalised school record book the week before their child starts school, or someone needs a birth print in time for a baby shower on Saturday, local printing makes that possible.

We are not waiting on shipping from overseas. We are not navigating international freight delays or customs. Our printer is here, our courier is here, and when we need to move quickly for a customer, we can.
